Product overview
Worldwide, there are more than one thausand different rice varieties. Since a humid climate is the prerequisite for rice cultivation, it is logical that the largest rice growing areas can be found in Asia. But also in Southern Europe, in the French Camargue region, the Po Valley in Italy, some areas in Spain as well as in the US, a rice growing tradition has developped in the last several decades.
In brown rice, only the spelt of the grains is removed and the rice grains themselves are not polished. Compared to white rice, brown rice grains are still enclosed by the so-called silver skin and the aleuron layer and the valuable seedling has not yet been removed. All these different layers contain many valuable components such as vitamins, minerals, unsaturated fatty acids or dietary fiber. Therefore, the nutrient concentration is much higher in brown rice than in white rice.
