Bio films for Rapunzel chocolates
Environmentally friendly treat due to sustainable packaging
Sustainable packaging solutions are an affair of the heart for Rapunzel. We are constantly testing new and sustainable packaging alternatives. Since the fall of 2019, we have been packaging Swiss Rapunzel chocolates in bio films made from renewable materials. This way, the attribute "sustainably packaged" could be added to the already existing chocolate properties ("organic" and "fair trade").
The bio film that is covered with a cardboard wrap is completely biodegradable. Bio films will gradually replace the OPP foil that has been used until now. The bio film is good for the environment. Moreover, it ideally preserves the aroma of exquisite Rapunzel chocolate. Bio films can be disposed of either in a home composter or in the residual waste bin: however, the bio films should not be put in the organic waste bin as their lives are too short for industrial composting plants.
Both, cardboard and bio film are made with cellulose from sustainable forestry. Exclusively mineral oil-free printing inks are used for the colorful packaging.
By the way: Did you know that Rapunzel was the first company in the world to market organic chocolate?
