Salt – white gold from the ocean
There were times when salt had the same trade value as gold and served as currency. But also today, salt is very important for us! Is seasons our meals with its typical aroma and supplies us with vital sodium chloride.
Our product range includes sea salt and herbal salt that is also available with iodine-containig algae. Our Atlantic and Mediterranean salt is produced in so-called salt gardens; it is unrefind and has no flow enhancers.
Salt gardens – traditional production
Off the coast, the sea water is discharged in large basins, the so-called salt gardens. There, the water evaporates and the salt crystallizes. The salt is washed several times with sea water, dried and sifted. The careful extraction conserves most of the valuable minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium.
It just tastes better with salt!
Soups – for body and soul
Rapunzel's pure, herbal vegetable stocks and soups are ideal as warming drinking broth, as a small meal in a cup as well as for the refining of sauces and other dishes.

Frequently asked questions about soups and seasonings
Is there glutamate in Rapunzel soups?
Time and time again it is said that Rapunzel soups contain glutamate. This statement is false.
we do not use any flavor enhancers
such as artificially produced glutamate in our soups and broths. Yeast and every yeast product contains natural glutamine (glutamate is the salt of glutamine). Glutamine is a natural component of yeast. In soup prepared with our soup broth, the glutamine content is insignificantly small and totals only about 0.017 - 0.03 %!
Glutamine is a natural component of many food products. Experts are convinced, that glutamine does NOT cause the Chinese restaurant syndrome. The amino acid glutamine can be found in the proteins of almost all food products and is used by the human body for protein synthesis. Glutamine can be found in large concentrations in soy protein, soy sauce, cereals, molasses and liver.
Artificially produced glutamate and artificial glutamine are produced through microorganisms in a biotechnological process and are added to different conventional foods in the form of sodium glutamate.
How is the yeast produced that is used for the clear Rapunzel broth and soup?
For our clear soup, for the vegetable stock cubes and the gourmet broth, we use yeast extract that is cultivated on organic cereal substrate. The yeast extract is produced in a gentle autolysis process and not in an acid hydrolysis process that is used for the production of conventional yeast extract. The autolysis process has the following advantages: no chemical nitrogen sources and synthetic vitamins are used, nor hydrochloric acid is used. Dispensation with hydrochloric acid results in a lower sodium chloride concentration.
All our yeast products are guaranteed free of genetically engineered organisms.
